Below you will find some of the questions many people have about Direct Primary Care. If you have a question not answered below, please give us a call or send us a message.
What is the monthly membership fee?
The monthly fee is $80 per month person; $135 per couple; $165 for a family of up to 5 people.
What does the monthly subscription fee cover?
The fee covers excellent primary care through unlimited office visits, annual wellness exams, well-child exams, sports physicals, school and camp physicals, basic office procedures, treatment of acute illness or minor injuries, and 24/7/365 access to your provider, same or next day appointments with no wait times in the office, and coordination with specialty providers as appropriate.
How is the monthly fee paid?
You will provide a form of payment – credit or debit card or bank account – and we will charge your account monthly on the day of the month you’ve chosen.
Is there a sign-up fee to join?
Yes. There is a fee of $80 to join our practice. That fee covers the administrative time to set up your account and enter your medical history into our system so that we can properly care for you. Although the fee is charged per person, if you are joining our practice as a family, please contact Teesha during business hours for discounted sign-up fees for families.
Who is a typical patient?
Boonsboro Direct Primary Care welcomes patients of all ages – from infants to elders, individuals and entire families.
What happens if I want to cancel my membership?
We understand that there are times when a member-patient needs to cancel their membership and we want to make that as easy as we made their medical care while a member. We simply request 30 days’ notice to cancel your membership, and that your cancellation be in writing.
Does Boonsboro Direct Primary Care accept health insurance?
No. Because we don’t accept insurance, we are able to avoid the labarynth of documentation and non-patient-centered requirements of the insurance companies. This allows us to control our costs and overhead. And, most importantly, we can provide the care our patients need based on what we believe is best for the patient – not the care the insurance company will allow.
What if I need to see a specialist?
We will refer you to specialists as appropriate and we will coordinate your primary care with the care of the specialist.
What if I am admitted to the hospital?
When patients are hospitalized, they are treated by physicians who work for the hospital, called “Hospitalists”. Your provider will communicate with your Hospitalist during your stay and then continue your care once you are discharged
What happens if I need medical attention while out of town?
Most issues can be handled by phone or telemedicine; however, if you need to be seen while you are away from home, we can assist with finding a provider for you, and can order prescriptions from a pharmacy in your locality if a medicine is required.
How am I charged for labwork, imaging, and other services that incur a charge?
You will be told the amount of any charge in advance of any procedure so that we each have a clear understanding of any costs. Once we’ve agreed to proceed, we will charge the costs to your method of payment that you have on file with us for your monthly fee.
As a member-patient of Boonsboro Direct Primary Care, do I need medical insurance?
We don’t require patients to have medical insurance in order to subscribe to our practice; however, we recommend that patients have some form of medical insurance in the event of a hospitalization or major health condition which would require specialist care outside of our practice. There are many options for high-deductible insurance plans and your insurance agent can assist you in getting the coverage recommended, or patients could take advantage of the healthcare exchange available under the Affordable Care Act.
Am I able to use my insurance at Boonsboro Direct Primary Care?
No. We do not accept insurance for our services; however, we are happy to assist with filing claims for medical testing and prescriptions. Please be sure to let us know if your insurance requires you to use specific facilities or pharmacies.
I have Medicare/Medicaid – can I still join your practice?
Yes, you can; however, neither Medicare nor Medicaid will cover the cost of your monthly subscription fee. The medical costs for testing, prescriptions, specialists, etc., will continue to be covered under Medicare as they were before you joined Boonsboro Direct Primary Care.
